Healing from Emotional Childhood Neglect
Many of my clients come to therapy sensing that “nothing really happened” in childhood, yet still feeling disconnected, unseen, or unworthy. From an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, this is often the result of emotional childhood neglect—when a child’s need for attunement, validation, and emotional presence goes unmet. Rather than overt harm, neglect is the quiet absence of emotional nourishment, which leads to protective parts that strive, please, or stay self-reliant to avoid the pain of being unseen. Over time, these strategies create a life of doing rather than being—productive, competent, yet disconnected from deeper emotional needs.
IFS therapy offers a path back to connection.
Through this work, protective parts learn to trust the Self’s wisdom, exiled parts are compassionately witnessed and cared for, and the system gradually shifts from survival-based patterns to a more open, self-led way of being—one rooted in presence, authenticity, and inner belonging.
Hi, I’m Jenny.
I’ve been in your shoes. I spent much of my life in the mountains—running rivers, chasing powder—trying to be okay and make sense of myself. Growing up with a lot of absence, I didn’t know how to truly feel or find real connection with others or myself. Adventure in nature became the constant, the safe haven—the one place where things felt understandable.
Over time, that relationship with the outdoors became the catalyst that led me from avoidance and numbing into a fully feeling, vibrant life rooted in real connection.
You can have this too.

Wilderness Trips
I’ve spent most of my life with awkward tan lines and my feet in the dirt. Again and again my experiences outside—alone and with community—have shaped, grounded and taught me like nothing else. I’m excited to be combining my passion for time spent outside with my passion for mental health through unique wilderness offerings for other mental health providers.
